Matted and Framed Size:

The matted size is the outside dimensions of the mount board and mat board with which the photograph is mounted and matted.  This is also the required frame size (the size that should be used when purchasing a frame).

I use standard matted/framed sizes as much as possible so that finding a frame in the right size for your purchase will generally be easy.  Standard matted/framed sizes are:  11x14, 16x20, 18x24, 22x28, and 32x40.

[Note that panoramic or other specialty prints may not use a standard mat/frame size.]

Print Size:

The print size is the approximate dimensions of the photograph itself.

The actual print size may vary slightly from these dimensions depending on the original photograph's format and cropping as well as the overlap of the image area by the mat board.
